Connection
October 2nd (Wed) - October 6th (Sun), 2024
12:00-19:00
The last day is until 6 PM.
Viewers connect with each other, and with me.
In the moment of looking at a painting, a wonderful, invisible connection is formed that transcends space and time.
Raised between Japan and Germany, I felt from a young age that building bridges and connections was important, and that it was a lifelong puzzle that evolved with my life experiences. Living between different cultures inevitably involves conflicting aspects, and balancing them was a natural challenge as someone of mixed heritage. However, over time, I came to realize that despite the differences, there are many surprising commonalities and mutual connections. Beyond encounters with people and experiences of bicultural life, fascinating connections appear everywhere in the worlds of science and metaphysics, and these connections add further depth to my daily life.
The exhibition will mainly showcase works using natural materials such as lotus leaves, Indian fig leaves, and rubber tree leaves.
One of my hopes is to create a connection between viewers and nature.
During the creative process, I work with each leaf, engaging in a dialogue with it, while feeling a deep connection to nature. Each lotus leaf has its own unique character; some are easy to work with, while others are not. For the leaves to accept color and for the paint not to repel due to the lotus effect, a connection with the leaves' consent is necessary. And then there are the people who harvested the leaves and carefully processed each one. Although I've never actually met them, I feel a connection and gratitude in my heart.
Another hope is to connect viewers with new ideas and visions existing in a space overflowing with intuition and possibilities. This connection may lead to small flashes of inspiration that result in smiles and self-reflection. The titles of individual works are subtle suggestions, inviting imagination and a stroll of the heart.

Gratitude and connection – Connection – are the foundation of my work.
