SUT Manager Solo Exhibition 002

Have you eaten? ~Exhibition~

December 11th (Wed) - December 15th (Sun), 2024

12:00-19:00

The last day is until 6 PM.

There's a really nice greeting in Korea:
"Bap mogosseoyo? (밥먹었어요?)"
"Have you eaten?"

A few years ago, when I was bedridden with a serious illness, what encouraged me and gave me hope and courage to live were the "eating videos" of video creators. In particular, the eating videos of Korean creators were bold, straightforward, their eating styles were innovative, and above all, the food all looked delicious.

Three years later, having recovered, I traveled to Korea to enjoy the food I had longed for.

There's a wonderful greeting in Korea:
"Bap mogosseoyo? (밥먹었어요?)"

It means "Have you eaten?" in Korean. In Korea, due to the country's past poverty, it's used as a friendly greeting to show concern for someone you're close to. During my illness, I was extremely thin, and although it wasn't exactly a Korean greeting, everyone worried about me and asked, "Are you eating?"

This trip wasn't just about eating delicious food; there were also many wonderful experiences. With delicious food, wonderful experiences, and a trip that filled both body and soul, I want to brag about it to someone. A zine would be the perfect way to brag. Not SNS, not free papers, not just chatting, but a ZINE. But if I'm going to make one, I want to show it off even more to the people who come to SUT.

This solo exhibition is for that very purpose.

This exhibition, titled "Pat Mogosseoyo?" (How Did You Eat?), is a ZINE about a trip to Korea, using this wonderful greeting as its title.

Take a fantasy trip at the small SUT gallery,
and then embark on a real trip with the Korean ZINE.

Profile
Born in Tokyo. Graphic designer.
Manager of the gallery shop "Space Utility TOKYO" in Nakameguro. During my time as a company employee, a free paper I secretly printed on the company printer in the middle of the night changed the course of my life. Decades later, I'm now the manager of a shop in Nakameguro selling ZINEs, miscellaneous goods, and free papers. I spend my days as a graphic designer, shop manager, and working with risographs.
