Summer Illusions ~Ephemerals of Summer~

August 24, 2019 (Wed) - September 14, 2019 (Sat)

High school photographer Maeno Taiyo embarked on his first hitchhiking trip during his summer vacation in 2018, his first time hitchhiking, to see the view from the top of Mount Fuji.

After returning from my trip, I worked my first part-time job at SUT while preparing, and on the last day of summer vacation, I held a mini photo exhibition at SUT.

This summer made me realize how narrow my world had been, but at the same time, it also allowed me to discover my own potential.

After a year of consistently sharing his work on social media, he held his first solo exhibition as the culmination of that year's efforts.

On Instagram, he continuously uploads photos of his high school life and things that interest him. These photos capture innocent classmates having fun and girls blending into the sunset on the beach, in the moment when summer light and water splashes intersect. He captures the sparkling present moment as if he understands how fleeting and fragile those three years of high school are. Adults who experienced high school long ago see the ephemeral passage of time in those glittering photographs.

A dazzlingly poignant photo exhibition.
