Utility Canvas

The appeal of UC items lies in their simple design and exceptional durability. Founded in 1990 by New York-based brand directors Gillian and Hull, UC specializes in canvas fabrics. Gillian, a designer, sought a simple yet sturdy bag and began creating tote bags with the cooperation of a yacht sail factory. While popular in Japan, UC bags are designed to be enjoyed for years, developing a unique patina over time, much like jeans.

UC's theme is a casual workwear line. Loved by true New Yorkers—businessmen, construction workers, artists, chefs, students, and more—its work style has been embraced. It all started with a bag designer Gillian made for herself.
