Tammy's Treats
10th Anniversary
November 11th (Fri) - 13th (Sun), 2019
We create and select products based on the themes of "improving livelihoods through handcrafted work" and "mottainai (avoiding waste)." This year marks our 10th anniversary since we started. To express our gratitude, we are holding an Anniversary Exhibition. We will convey the "present" of Tammy's Treats with a different presentation than usual.
What is
I can't forget the words of one of the women working at a loom in a makeshift hut by the roadside in rural Thailand. "If someone like you would buy our textiles, we wouldn't have to be ripped off by middlemen. Our lives would be so much easier..." These women earned their cash income by wholesaling their textiles to middlemen.
Her words prompted me to consider how I could help improve the lives of these people. Could I support the improvement of producers' lives and address social issues like poverty and exploitation by introducing handcrafted goods from various countries? Could I effectively communicate about the diverse challenges facing the world through compelling and engaging products with compelling stories?
Tammy's Treats is an initiative to give shape to those feelings.
