Zines are incredibly popular these days.
Zines are a versatile medium of expression where anything goes.
Zines might just change your life.
SUT loves these kinds of zines.
The modern tiled "TABAKO" lettering at the tobacco shop in the shopping arcade. The Showa-era signboard girl and the third-generation signboard cat. "I'll have the usual," you'd say, handing over 560 yen, and without a word, two packs of Hi-Lite Menthol cigarettes would appear. That was a long time ago. The shop, which had been closed for so long, was eventually torn down and the lot became empty. I wonder what happened to that cat.
Memories that remain hidden deep within everyone's heart. They come back to us in unexpected moments, and a pang of nostalgia washes over our chests. We want to capture these ordinary scenes before they disappear. Those signs, those letters, those neon signs that might be gone in five years. Pedestrian overpasses, telephone poles, underground shopping malls, radio towers. Zines and books by people who feel a vague sense of romance about things and places that might disappear in five years gather in a corner of this 102-year-old row house.
